- Kenny Lotz - Co-Head JV Coach & Varsity Assistant

Coach Lotz was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia. He is a graduate of Pope High School and played four years of baseball for the Greyhounds. He was a part of the 2009 State Championship team that was also ranked 10th in the Nation.

After graduating from Pope he attended Georgia Perimeter College where he received his Associates Degree. In 2016 he graduated from Kennesaw State University earning his Bachelors in Health and Physical Education and a Minor in Coaching. Coach Lotz spent his first two years in the school system working in the Special Education Department at Pope before being hired as an Elementary school physical education teacher.

Coach Lotz is the co-head JV baseball coach and led the 2022 JV squad to 14 wins during his inaugural season at the helm. The 14 wins is the 2 nd most for a JV team in the entire history of the Pope program. Coach Lotz is also the outfield coordinator and played a significant role in strengthening the stalwart Greyhound defense in 2022 helping to guide the program to the 5th state championship in program history as well as a #17 national ranking by Baseball America.

Coach Lotz has played an integral role since his inception on the Pope coaching staff in 2015. Coach Lotz assisted with outfielders and hitters playing and important role in helping Pope win back to back state championships in 2017 and 2018 and he has also served as official team statistician during that time. Coach Lotz has also seen the Hounds finish as state runner up four times during his tenure (2016, 2019, 2023, 2024) as well as two semi final finishes in 15 and 21.

Outside of baseball, Coach Lotz loves being in the outdoors, camping, and backpacking. He spends most of his free time with his Golden Retriever, Sadie. Coach Lotz is an accomplished bowler and is also an Eagle Scout, having achieved that rank in 2008.

Coach Lotz is in his eleventh season as an Assistant Coach at Pope and Coach Lotz is an employee of Cobb County Schools teaching physical education at Mt. Bethel Elementary.
