Coach Ryan Khan was born in Overland Park, Kansas and was raised in Marietta, GA. Coach Khan attended Pope High School where he lettered in basketball (2 years) and baseball (3 years). Khan was a three year starter at catcher for the Greyhounds, and was part of the 2009 State Championship team that was ranked 10th nationally. He also was awarded two Coach’s Awards under legendary former Pope baseball Coach Jeff Rowland.
Upon graduation from Pope, Khan attended Augusta University (formerly Augusta State University) to play baseball, and majored in Business Administration and Marketing. Khan lettered for the Jaguars all four years, and was awarded with a Coach’s Award and Most Improved during his tenure. Coach Khan was named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team in 2014, and received the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award for D2 athletes in 2013 and 2014.
Coach Khan has helped the Hounds secure 2 state championships with the 1st championship coming during his inaugural year on staff, 2018, and the 2nd championship coming with the 2022 Hounds. Both seasons saw the Hounds secure a national ranking with the 2018 team finishing ranked 8th and the 2022 finishing 17th.
Coach Khan has played an integral role with the team’s offense since his hiring in 2018. In 2024, Coach Khan returns to Pope baseball after a one year absence to fill the brand new role of Director of Player Development. In this new role, Coach Khan will work with all hitters in the program assisting with all aspects of swing design, mechanics, and approach.
During the 2022 season, Khan helped lead the highest scoring offense in Pope history which saw the Hounds score a record 328 runs (8.2 per game) while posting the 5th best batting average in school history and setting new records for triples and stolen bases. During the 2022 season, Khan helped develop Dawson Campbell whose hitting prowess was partially responsible for being named state player of the year in 2022 as well as All American. Coach Khan assisted the Hounds to a return trip to the state championship game in 2023 and helped class of 2023 6A player of the year Carson Kerce break the program single season and career record for triples as he posted 11 triples in 2023.
Coach Khan has also assisted in molding other high powered offenses helping coach 4 of the 5 highest scoring offenses in school history with the 2019 team scoring 316 runs which is good for 3rd best in school history, the 2018 team posting 297 runs which is 4th most, and the 2023 team posting the 5th most runs with 296. The 2019 team also set a school record for doubles with 100 while the 2018 Hounds were school record setters for free passes posting school records for walks and hit by pitches.
Coach Khan currently resides in Cumming with his wife Danielle and children Patrick and Hailey.
