Coach Jareno was hired in the fall of 2023 to join the Greyhound staff as an infield, hitting and
baserunning coach. During the 2024 season, Jareno’s 1st as a coach with the Hounds, his impact
was immediate as he helped the Hounds back to their 9th consecutive final 4 and 3rd consecutive trip
to the state championship where the Honds finished runner up. Jareno was also able to help lead the
team in breaking the school record for stolen bases with 116 as well as assist John Stuetzer with
breaking the single season stolen base record.
Coach Jareno is a 2018 graduate of Pope High School who went on to play DIII baseball at Bates College in
Lewiston, Maine. During his tenure at Pope High School, he was the starting 2nd baseman from 2016-2018,
helping the team reach three appearances in the State Championship and winning two of them.
Coach Jareno participated in the L.E.A.D All-Star game played at Truist Park in 2017. Coach Jareno played at
East Cobb and 6-4-3 during summer ball while in high school, winning two PG Super 25 championships in the
process. Coach Jareno was recognized for his excellent character at Pope, being nominated for the Positive
Athlete award twice.
Coach Jareno was able to showcase his athleticism at Bates College where he played every position but 1B and
CF during his 4 years there. His freshman year in 2019, Coach Jareno won NESCAC Baseball Player of the
Week. He was Bates' first NESCAC Baseball Player of the Week since 2015 and Bates' first rookie ever to win
a NESCAC weekly award since they were first issued in 2001. Coach Jareno was recognized for his
sportsmanship at Bates and was named to the NESCAC Spring All-Sportsmanship Team in 2022.
During summers off from college, Coach Jareno would help coach Pope Baseball Camps and was assistant
coach in a few tournaments with 6-4-3. Though limited in his coaching experience, Coach Jareno plans to bring
his baseball experience, expertise, and positive mentality to help players grow and develop to be the best
versions of themselves on and off the field.
Coach Jareno graduated from Bates College in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in
History. Coach Jareno is a pre-med candidate and is currently gaining medical experience while preparing for
medical school applications.
Coach Jareno is entering his 2nd year as assistant coach and resides in Canton, Georgia.
