Will Harrison is a 2010 graduate of Union Grove High school who went on to play baseball at Truett-McConnell College and Shorter University.

Harrison joined the Pope coaching staff in 2022 and made an immediate impact in his 1st year. In the fall, Coach Harrison worked with the cross country program assisting the girls team to a 3rd place state finish and the boys to a 7th place finish in state. In the spring, Harrison helped the baseball Hounds capture their 5th state championship andsecure a #17 national ranking from Baseball America.

In baseball, Harrison was tasked with assisting the Pope high offense and in his 1st year on the job the 2022 offense set a new record for runs in a season with 328, good for 8.2 runs per game. Through their state championship run, the Hounds posted a perfect 10-0 record and outscored their opposition 105 – 24, good for 10.5 runs per playoff game. The Hounds also set new offensive records for triples in a season as well as stolen bases.

Coach Harrison has not missed a state championship game since coming over to Pope as he was an integral part of the 2023 and 2024 state runner up finishes.

Harrison’s coaching career began at Shorter University where he was an assistant coach during the 2014-2015 season. From Shorter University, Will returned to Union Grove where he served as the associate head baseball coach for 5 years and assistant softball coach for 2 years.  Harrison’s work as an assistant softball coach landed him the head fastpitch softball coaching job for his final 2 years at Union Grove. Harrison logged valuable playoff experience at Union Grove coaching in the state baseball playoffs 5 times and state softball tournament 4 times, qualifying for the Elite 8 State Finals tournament in Columbus on two separate occasions.

Harrison spent the 2020-2021 school year at Ola High School serving as an assistant baseball and softball coach where he helped lead both programs to the state playoffs and capturing a region baseball championship and securing a sweet 16 playoff appearance.

Harrison is a former coach with the BigStix Baseball travel organization out of McDonough, GA.  

Coach Harrison has both a Masters and Education Specialist degree with a focus in Special Education and he works in the Pope Transition Academy.   

Coach Harrison resides in Woodstock and is proud father to his daughter Scarlett.
